Carol and her daughter and granddaughter

This is a picture of me with my daughter and granddaughter in shirts that I appliquéd. I offer shirts like these for sale here.

Welcome to Carol’s Quilts located in Sisseton, located in the Northeast corner of South Dakota(on the Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux Indian Reservation)

My husband Bob and I have two grown children, Ryan who is 27 and Diana, 25 who is married to Adam and they have given us a beautiful granddaughter, Jessica.

I have been quilting for 17 years and teaching for 11 years. I have always enjoyed sewing and doing different crafts, but when I started quilting all that went out the window. I have exclusively quilted the past 17 years.

The first two quilts I made I cut out each piece using a template and scissors, hand pieced and hand quilted. I realized right away that if I was ever to accomplish anything I needed to learn a faster way. I was introduced to rotary cutter, mat and rulers!!!! Oh, my what fun it was.

When we moved to Sisseton, they were getting ready for the Centennial and I noticed an ad in the paper for quilts needed for a quilt show. I thought that I could help them out with a few of mine. I took in several and they talked me into entering a star quilt in the JUDGED portion of the show. It took first prize.

Then the Fine Arts Center asked me to teach a class and that is how it all began. This class started what was the beginning of Choteau Prairie Quilter's Guild, which I am now president of.  We have done some quilt shows. We make lap quilts for the Nursing Home and just recently making some pockets to hang on walkers and wheel chairs for the residents as well.

I have since taught classes, done custom quilt making and hand quilting. I have branched out and purchased a Handiquilter and Brother 1500 machine. Now I teach classes in quilt shops that offer the Handiquilter for sale. I have also been machine quilting quilts for ladies that either do not have the time, interest or know how on my Handiquilter. I have really enjoyed this adventure.

Another new adventure has been making the thread catchers. I have been wholesaling them to quilt shops with great success and repeat orders.
